The name of the Achillea comes from the ancient Greek Trojan warrior Achilles, who used it to heal his soldiers during battle, whereas millefolium refers to the deeply divided leaves.
Called a "cure-all" and widely used around the world for centuries in many cultures.
Traditionally used to reduce inflammation & fevers, encourage sweating, expel toxins, astringent properties helps stop nosebleeds, excessive menstruation, and diarrhoea, relief of muscle spasms, arthritis, and easing digestion. Yarrow helps to relax peripheral blood vessels, thereby improving circulation. Yarrow contains several anti-inflammatory & pain-relieving constituents - azulene and salicylic acid. Also contains sterols, which support hormonal balance and a regular menstrual cycle and used to improve cholesterol levels.
Also commonly used by herbalists for lowering blood pressure. It has been shown in animal studies to have blood pressure lowering potential through negative inotropic and chronotropic effects.
Directions: Infuse 1 to 2 teaspoons in freshly boiled water for 15 minutes or longer. Drink 1 to 3 cups daily.
